About
VRO, The Poet (Vee Rodriguez) is an NYC-born rapper and filmmaker whose work bridges hip-hop, cinema, and graphic storytelling. Deeply influenced by icons such as 2Pac, Big Pun, and Nas, VRO fuses lyrical intensity with a strong visual sensibility inspired by film and comic-book mythology.
His music is marked by vivid storytelling and recurring comic-book references that explore struggle, success, love, karma, and deception. Performing under the moniker “VRO Versuz (The World),” he channels the defiant voice of rebellious outcasts—an identity shaped by his own experiences of being bullied at a young age for his passion for comic books. What once set him apart has become a defining element of his artistic vision.
While hip-hop remains VRO’s native genre, his versatility has allowed him to cross cultural and musical boundaries. He has successfully entered the Latino market by blending his urban style with Merengue, Bachata, and other Latin genres, collaborating with NBCUniversal producer Jhelsy Paula and Dominican singer Louis Paulino.
Beyond music, VRO is an accomplished actor and filmmaker. He has appeared in several independent American films and the Dominican television series Mortales, and he continues to produce and direct films inspired by his own poetry. His award-winning documentary, LOOK AT US NOW: A COMIC BOOK MOVIE, has screened at over 60 film festivals worldwide, cementing his reputation as a multidisciplinary artist who transforms personal narrative and pop-culture passion into powerful, globally resonant work.
