Beautiful Terrible Things

Beautiful Terrible Things (BTT) is a DC-based duo consisting of US artist-singer-producer Ian Grant and UK musician-producer Oliver Mossop. BTT started as a solo project of Grant’s who, opting for a DIY approach, produced his own music using an iPad and Apple’s Garageband. He went on to perform with various DC-area artists and independently released two albums, “Feel” (2014) and “Elektriq” (2016). Mossop first picked up a guitar at age 14 and soon after mastered bass, drums, and later live sound engineering. He entered the world of music production and engineering in the mid-2000s and produced a wide range of Breakbeat, Punk, and Metal offerings. Grant and Mossop met in 2017 at a local DC cafe where, after a few drinks, they started a musical partnership that would lead to their first release as a duo “The Love Drug EP” (2020). Embracing the unexpected they never claim to fit into any one genre. Instead they experiment with sounds from electro funk to synth pop to classic rock and hip-hop. Influenced by artists like Prince, Queen, The Internet, and Kid Cudi, they embody the idea that anyone with an artistic vision can make it happen. With Grant’s background as a visual artist and Mossop’s methodical approach to production the duo strives to create an authentic and visually stirring sound.
