Coming from Brooklyn, New York Brandon J who’s real name is Brandon Jones displays his versatility and passion for the art. Brandon J started writing his own rhymes at the age of 12. “My older brothers introduced me to hip hop, I remember when both of them were debating about Ruff Ryders and Rocafella.” When Brandon J was a teen he began listening to Nas, Jadakiss, DMX, Jay-Z, 50 cent, Kanye West, 2pac and The Notorious B.I.G, who heavily inspired him to write music. Brandon raps about the relationships he had with his exes, childhood and current experiences life has brought him. His second release which was a freestyle to “Panda” explained injustices and inequality faced by many. “Rapping is a reflection of your life.” In High School, Brandon J allow his classmates and friends to read his rhymes for feedback. “Everyone pretty much encouraged me to keep writing because they felt that I can make it far one day.” In High School his English teacher was flabbergasted when she heard one of his poems. She encouraged him to write different poems for a class project.” At that moment Brandon J took writing seriously. “I love to create, from paintings, clothing, music. I love many forms of art.” Now he’s getting noticed by DJ’s like DJ Sidereal who’s raving about his single “Pain.” Things were rough when Brandon J’s home caught fire in 2016 which lead him to get assistance from American Red Cross. He was living in two different hotels in the span of 3 months. Then later was placed in a shelter for 4 months. That inspired him to write “Pain” to express himself. “During that period of my life I was stressed out, my relationship just ended too, so I needed a stress reliever. I began writing and recording. That was therapeutic for me.” In 2017 Brandon J and his family moved to New Jersey, where life became better for him.
