About
What is the norm? And why do we all strive to be an exact perfect look alike of one another. In reality all those beautiful images are photoshopped with everyone striving to be as perfect as they can be and they don’t know the actual truth behind the photos. Brenda is redefining the specific elements in social media that hypnotize and subliminally influence people to think they are in control of their actions but really, are not. Making the NEW COOL being the NORM. Be uniquely you and accept yourself instead of trying to look perfect 100% of the time.
“Growing up, I never felt good enough for just being me. I felt ashamed of who I was until I got tired of obsessing over perfection and I embraced my quirks, thick thighs and all! Especially walking into an industry that over sexualizes women, as a bigger girl, I have had to learn how to stand my ground and push past naysayers that told me I will never make it because of my body size. When I started my journey I told myself that I would succeed in this industry by being a genuine and kind person who spreads positivity. I’m not a stereotypical woman and I won’t try to fit the mould that should be broken. Humans are not perfect… Nobody is… so let’s stop pretending that we are! Let us come together and re-define what our “Highlight Reel” should look like. Spread truth, authenticity, kindness and let's make the NORM be the NEW COOL.” ……BRENDA DIRK
Living with ADHD all her life, Brenda has struggled to stay focused and on her musical path as well as striving to show representation for females in the Music Industry as a Artist, Songwriter, and Producer.
“It’s difficult in this industry but I’ve been perfecting and developing my craft, traveling to places all around the world, attending events like Toronto’s Canada’s Music Incubator, Neverland Retreats (Costa Rica) and Durango Song Expo (Los Angeles) and Tin PanSouth (Nashville) just to name a few. I’ve focused on expanding my network by finding high-level executives to mentor under. My latest single was co-written and produced by Record/Film & TV/Sync producer Adam McInnis who wrote and produced "Next Level" for AESPA and Mario Marchetti (Grammy Award Winning, Platinum Music Producer) who produced and co-wrote Demi Levato’s “Neon Lights”. I personally mentored under the SYNC Legend Adam McInnis and I’ve learned unique and innovative ways to level up my artistry.” ……BRENDA DIRK
Brenda was born in Canada to Russian lineage, speaks fluent Russian, loves to spend hours in her studio, go on adventures with her friends, play with her parrot and her dog Trooper, create impromptu pop-up concerts and donate her time to charities.
Mix and match pop with country, and then throw in a little blues – that’s where you will find Brenda Dirk! Her unique attitude and personality seeps into her savvy music with thought provoking lyrics and beautiful melodies.
Brenda Dirk is striving to show representation for female producers in the industry and is learning how to be a 100 percenter. She is producing her own music videos, personally designing her merchandise, building her brand and developing her knowledge of the industry.
Financially supporting herself Brenda has spent the last few years enhancing her skills as an Artist with fierce motivation and drive. In 2019, she packed up her little black GMC Canyon truck and drove 3300 kms to Nashville, Tennessee. Once there, she attended music conferences like Tin Pan South, went into songwriting sessions and performed on stages like the Bluebird Café, Douglas Corner and other venues. After gaining set skills in Nashville for 3 months she was accepted into the Canadian Music Incubator (CMI) in Toronto, spending about 2 months there to learn more about the Business of Music.
Once that was completed she found out that she was accepted to be a part of a small group of songwriters at the Neverland Retreats in Costa Rica, (hosted by Autumn Rowe, Sidney Swift, Nash Overstreet, and Andrew Gould). This experience of writing and being mentored by professional songwriters was another valuable skill set to add to her growing knowledge base.
Continuing her education, in 2020, Brenda was accepted into the Billboard 500 club by Adam McInnis (Film/TV & Sync Executive) who placed her in a group of Artists that mentor under Grammy Award winning and A&R industry executives from around the world. Thanks to Adam McInnis, Brenda packed up her little black GMC Canyon truck again and as a solo female traveller she drove across 2 countries and a border to California to take part in the Billboard 500 meet up and record her next 2 tracks with Adam and his production partner Mario Marchetti (Platinum Record Producer and Grammy Award winning songwriter who wrote Demi Levatos’ hit song Neon Lights). While she was there she attended the Durango Song Expo in Los Angeles to experience the vast diversities of songwriters from all over the country.
After the pandemic hit, Brenda put her release on hold so she could learn unique and innovative ways to level up her artistry, her production, songwriting and recording engineering skills. She also attended the Ryan Tedder Master Class and learnt so much from the hit songwriting master that her next goal is to self-produce an album to be released in 2022.
She is continuously finding ways to become a master at her craft. She believes it is important to never give up on your dreams, strive to work as hard as you possibly can and achieve your goals through a strong work ethic and self-education.
Always bringing a positive bubbly attitude, Brenda brings exuberance to every performance. She knows how to read the room, raise the energy and engage her crowd. Brenda always says she’s taking her career “one step at a time, one song at a time and one stage at a time”. She encourages people from all walks of life to work hard and dream big.
