De'Jay Nightingale

As a child I knew I could imitate any singer's voice. Not just any singer though, I'm talking about the greats! Sam Cooke, Gerald Levert, Jamie Foxx, Al Green and all the way to the legendary Michael Jackson. That's just a few to sum it up. People would literally stop me in the hallways back in grade school just so I can sing. They would even call me all times of the day to hear my voice because it would brighten up their day. I recall one childhood memory where I was riding in the backseat singing lead to the Isley Brothers' "Voyage to Atlantis". They had to pull over and turn down the radio to make sure their ears weren't deceiving them. "I'm something like a mockingbird!" Hence, is often referred to "The Nightingale"! Nightingales are capable of learning the songs and calls of hundreds of other birds, as well as musical instruments, and many other sounds. Other attributes of the mockingbird that correlate to De'Jamari is the element of beauty in the bird's songs. The tones and melodic vibes are ever flowing like poetry of the ocean. One factor that stood out is that the nightingale does not stop singing its beautiful song at the intrusion of an annoying woodpecker. Through all the adversity De'Jamari has faced in life he always finds a way to make a beautiful, heart-wrenching song. Each of these pieces are climbing the charts and expressing the obstacles he's overcome and used as fuel to ignite his healing melodies, which are aimed to ignite change the world, instead of making it an excuse to bring more harm to his nation. There is an international proverb that states "A nightingale cannot (does not, will not) sing in a cage". Comparing that maxim to the spirit of De'Jay and his catalog, you'll grasp the connotation of that saying. It's not a literal box, yet a metaphorical one.
