Deacon Lamard

Soulful storytelling is the essence of R&B and it certainly comes to mind when Deacon Lamard is on stage. “Music has this incredible ability to connect one person to another,” said Deacon. “With all life’s trials and triumphs, battles and celebrations, I’m telling the world my story and I want them to get to know me through my music.” Born and raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn N.Y., Deacon was determined to prevail over circumstances and surroundings, and his passion for music would be his way out. His unforgettable vocals and powerful delivery grew out of singing in the church choir at the age of four. “My mother and confidante was a singer at church. She constantly filled the household with song lifting my spirit and cultivating my love for music,” Deacon recalled. “My performance skills developed early on and I could connect with an audience with nothing but my voice, and hold their attention until the very last note.” Deacon took those skills and began performing on bigger stages during high school. Through the years, Deacon has performed at numerous fashion shows, talent shows during college and was even a member of the choir, “Voices of Victory.” He has performed at prominent venues and showcases to include “Faces in the Crowd,” the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden and Rucker Park for the EBC Celebrity basketball game. His second single “Deacon Step 2” was played as a score in the dramatic comedy “Madea’s Family Reunion.” In 2015, Deacon released his long awaited album “LOST” which signifies the mantra “Living outside of Simpler Thoughts.” Deacon explained, “We have to allow ourselves to break free from the box we usually put ourselves in.” The album includes soulful tracks on his journey of becoming “LOST.” Deacon is currently working on his upcoming project scheduled to be release in 2020. “Music is in everybody’s life someway somehow,” said Deacon. “When it entered my life it settled in my soul so that’s what I pass on to you ... music for your soul... soul music
