About

Derek M. Tavernier, Son of Sherman M. Tavernier and Gertrude Hector was born on October, 18th, 1990, at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Roseau, Dominica. Raised in Soufriere, Dominica, with his older sibling Eric Tavernier, he became engaged in church activities and shortly after, playing instruments and singing at the age of 9years old. Migrating from Dominica to Antigua was a tap into the dancehall industry for Derek Tavernier, and that would change his life forever. Relocating to the US Virgin Islands shortly gave this young artist an even wider scope on the worldwide music industry. Derek has done open performances for the likes of Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Jai Kingston, Chronixx & The Zinc Redemption, and many other well-known artists, just to name a few. Those experiences and more helped to mold the character and musical professionalism of young Mr. Tavernier. Later on migrating to Minnesota and New Jersey was Derek’s first close encounter with the US music market. Widely spreading his name and songs over these areas was what gave way to new opportunities in other states, mainly Florida. A few singles and features later, Derek would be known as an international artist performing back and forth the Caribbean and US with songs like ‘Guide’ , ‘Trodding’, and now hit single ‘Clean’ off the Dub Lab International reggae album. After that, a tour with Dub Lab for their summer tour across the globe set the pace for new ventures. Derek has over two decades of experience in the music industry, from writing, producing, performing, and artist development. Specifically creating inspirational music, but not limited to any specific genre. Collaborations like reggae song 'Help' Featuring 'Pressure Buss Pipe' and the remix of 'Advice' Featuring Grammy nominated song writer 'Drastic'. Working with the likes of ' Eric Tavernier ' from ETPRODUCTIONS, who has worked with Alison Hinds, Etana, Black Rhyno, Pressure Buss Pipe, and Uncle Sasso, to name a few. The new album, Trodding and Trodding tour, is in effect! Come along for the ride!
