About
The motivated and ambitious warrior Don B. brings a new style to the genre with his southern-infused style and cognitively impactful lyrics, shedding light on a new rap and hip hop narrative. The South Carolina native’s longtime music connoisseur’s love for good music led him to the studio to—start developing himself as a viable songwriter and performance artist in 2012 and using his real-life experiences to inspire the next generations to come.
Growing up in a rural area, Don spent many of his formative years hidden from the realities of the world. After facing many disheartening events in high school, Don turned to ‘the street life.’ He would later realize that wasn’t the route he wanted to take, and after graduating from Benedict College, he set goals and used his multiple talents to send a positive message to young black men like himself.
His true-to-life experiences as the foundation for many of his songs and his upcoming recent EP titled “Death to the Trap.” Using his creativity, Don gives a less conventional perspective on Hip Hop–shedding light on underserved communities by explaining that the highly glamorized street life is not the only way to seek legal streams of income. This project is another step toward Don’s long-term goal to make a nationwide impact on closing ‘the trap’ lifestyle and continuously building up his community.
Outside of his career as a musician, Don puts his college education to work as an entrepreneur and business executive of Alpha Mentality Management.
He lives by the quote “You have to live to get old,” which he finds applicable in many areas of his life.
When he’s not recording or on the road, you can find Don reading, writing, and spending time with his family, especially his newborn son.
