"We are Dragon Scales"
Dragon Scales, the definition of a persistent band.
Lead Singer/Guitarist Robbie Upshon and Drummer Saren O'Sullivan started playing music together in a band named "Sarob the dudes" and played in there primary school talent show at 6 years of age. They then invited a
singer soon to be bass player to join them and come play in the band, in this time they also changed the band name to "DragonScales".
The band had learnt a cover song and were to play it at the next school talent show. A few months later they invited a second guitarist into DragonScales to play with them, at this point the singer was now on bass. After a couple of years DragonScales was a thriving young cover band playing community events. Everything was going well until 2021 when the bass player and second guitarist left the band, leaving Robbie and Saren alone to continue there dreams as a duo. After a few practices of covers the two decided it was time to write there own songs. At the start of 2022 they successfully wrote 6 songs at ages 14. With one of the songs getting 2nd place at New Zealand SmokeFree Rockquest Regional Finals. A friend had joined them to play bass for this event and the recording. The band is currently being mentored by Steve Poulton.
