About
Dris Rip was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up listening to Hip Hop, Jazz, RnB, and Soul Music, which heavily influenced his artistic style and point of view.
Most recently seen ‘rapping out’ in NYC with over 1 millions views on ariathome’s social pages, rocking the stage at Brooklyn Bowl with the Jungle Brother family… Afrika Baby Bam as well as featured amongst other up and coming artists in Okayplayer’s Mixtape Monday review for his 2nd studio album ASÉ, Dris Rip’s music is a descriptive journey through his beliefs on social and political issues, life struggles, paranoia, racism, and his observation on the world in which we live in.
It’s not just word play and the dissection of the English language that leaves you wanting more, his delivery is passionate and captivating, giving the listener a keen perspective on how deeply connected he is to every line he creates.
It’s no surprise that Dris Rip’s lyrical flow and ideology is greatly influenced by rappers that took the late 90’s era by storm such as, Nas, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, and Common; their genius encompassed great lyricism along with distinctive flow and captivating beats.
Mainly known for his quick-witted topical freestyle ability amongst his peers, Dris Rip began to transform his verses into songs that included everything from his religion to his fears of not being successful in this ever-changing world.
Dris Rip has a grassroots performance roster that parallels the career paths of many hungry and successful emcees. Having commanded audiences throughout New York at venues such as The Nuyorican Poets Café, The 5spot, The Pyramid Club, SOB’s, and The Knitting Factory, he has established a considerable following with a clear vision on what a RAPPER is meant to be.
