About

Born Dwaylon R. Calhoun, the Carson, CA native grew up with his Filipino-born mother, his West Athens born & raised father that studied recording arts, & an iPod filled with music from different genres & eras. Dwae spent a quarter of his life in the Philippines and another quarter in his father’s neighborhood of West Athens in Los Angeles. Both environments exposed him to gang violence, poverty, and eventually music. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, & Kanye West & at 14 years old, he borrowed his fathers mic and record in the closet of his bedroom would learn to mix his own songs. While growing up playing basketball, Dwae still managed his songwriting, uploading songs on SoundCloud, & engineering for himself and his friends on the side. He would later play basketball at the collegiate level which eventually led to his journey to the Philippines. Instead of committing to a university or going pro, he ultimately committed to his music career.
