About
19-year-old Philadelphia native G1000 is an old soul with a story to tell. Originally inspired by the raw lyricism of rappers like Jadakiss, Meek Mill and Lil Wayne, G1000 has carefully crafted a sound that blends the technical prowess of emcees past with passionate melodies and raspy vocals aged by a life in the trenches.
Born and raised in Olney, Philadelphia, G1000 (born Jihad Jones) began rapping as hobby at age 5, but he didn’t start pursuing music seriously until 2014 when his first music video “The Drill” became a local hit. 2015’s “Checkmate”, 2017’s “The Bad and The Good” and his promising mixtape “Bando on Fire” further fueled a groundswell of support in Philly that established him as a leading voice of the city alongside fellow up-and-comers Leaf Ward and BryGreatah.
In August 2019, G1000’s life was nearly cut short by an unfathomable tragedy when he was shot 8 times at point-blank range in Kensington, Philadelphia. Miraculously, G1000 was able to recover and returned to music in only a matter of weeks with his breakout music video “Being Shot”, a fiery and remarkably positive response to the ordeal. The video immediately went viral and gained over 100 thousand YouTube views within a week of its release without a major co-sign or label support.
Since releasing “Being Shot”, G1 has racked up over 2m YouTube views, received coverage from Say Cheese TV and ELEVATOR Mag and earned praise from Meek Mill. With a remarkable story and music to match, G1000 is poised for a major breakout in 2020.
