HISTORY
Crystal Scott lost her hearing in 1992, due to illness and an error in medication. As deaf culture became part of her new lifestyle, Crystal discovered that she often had to fight the challenges of society and its lack of knowledge of deaf culture. These challenges have inspired her to advocate equal access for the deaf community.
In 1994, Crystal won the Chancellor’s Community Service Award from the City of San Francisco School of Medicine. As a result of her community service, she became The First African American Hearing-impaired Paramedic in the State of California.
In 1995, she returned to her hometown of Pasadena, and she became a born-again Christian.
As she took the principles of God’s Word and applied them to her life, she watched God open doors in a mighty way.
In 1996, “Hands That Touch Ministries was birthed, as she and a few sign language interpreters began to bring music to life in Sign Language at a Women’s Christian Retreat.
Crystal became active in many other arenas. She joined the Christians International Modeling Association to challenge herself to model for the first time since she lost her hearing. Due to her dedication to perform as well as the hearing, she won a trophy for being “Most Dedicated” of the year in 1996.”
As she continued to grow in the integrity of God’s Word and apply HIS principles to her life, Crystal began to face new and unexpected opposition-challenges within the church encountered by persons with disabilities. Through research she found that many churches couldn’t meet the needs of the hearing-impaired community. God has given her a vision to sing Gospel Music in Sign Language as an outward expression of how God’s blessings have manifested in her life.
Crystal began to take scriptures and arrange them into songs, but she had no one to sing them for her. Through prayer, patience, and waiting on God, Christian Singers and Musicians began to emerge.
In 1997 “CVS Productions” was born, and of this new birth came the first CD sample release entitled “My First Love.”
Since then, the Hand That Touch ministry has been in great demand, as Crystal and others minister to both hearing and deaf communities.
In 1998, "Lady Bugg Publishing” came into effect to publish all Music, and Music Videos.
As they went out to share the Word of God in sign and song, it stirred up amazement and a new beginning for what God is doing with the hearing impaired and the deaf in their community.
In 1998, Crystal won the Glory Award for “Building Bridges and Closing the Gap” between the Hearing, and the Deaf / Hearing Impaired Communities. “The Deaf,” says, Crystal “Have the right to see God’s Word (through sign language) just as the Hearing have a right to hear it.” As a result, Crystal continues to open new doors and create new avenues for the Deaf / Hearing Impaired to prosper in Christ.
September 2000 introduced El Elyon Records. Crystal Scott is the first Hearing-Impaired individual to become President, Founder, Publisher, and CEO of a Record Company. The first Hearing Impaired individual to be Executive Producer of two musical sampler CD’s, and the first the challenge such organizations to open doors for the Deaf / Hearing Impaired to have equal access to the Word of God.
In February 2004, she became winner of the prestigious “Living Legend Award” for community service from Board of Supervisors Los Angeles County office 2nd District of Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.
In 2005, Crystal was HEALD at a Conference in Los Angeles, Ca. She’s no longer Hearing Impaired.
In 2007-2009, Miss Scott relocated to Houston Texas to attend Hillard Vocational Bible Institute. After graduating, she returned to California were she’s working as an Anesthesia Tech. at one of the most prestigious hospitals in Los Angeles, Ca.
She’s very active in the community in many areas, her and daughter mountain bike, join triathlons to raise funds for various cancer societies.
She’s involved in many productions for the cause of humanity.
God is now taking her to ultimate spiritual heights as she continues to minister the Word of God as a motivational speaker, Sign Language Music Ministry, introducing the Word of God in art form to all humanity for a better way of life.
