About
It's Jay Shay but my real names Jacob Shaffer. I grew up in a hood everyone called Da Bottoms witch is 1st through 6th Street first ward in Cambridge Ohio. I was bullied a lot in school my mother got me into poetry. I use to write poetry all the time when I was a lil kid. Honestly I didn't even know what rapping was until my mother introduced me to 2 PAC. My life took a major change when I heard Eminem for the first time tho. I realized that I could actually be a rapper if I wanted to be one. If Marshall Mathers a bullied lil white boy from 8 mile Detroit could do it so could I. I dreamed of becoming a famous rapper some day. I started out writing lyrics here and there for fun on my own in private. But coming up with one bar after another was extremely difficult for me at first. Then one day i was hanging out with one of my best friends. We was listening to a rapper called Black Rob the song was called like whoa. When the song started my friend asked me if I wanted to try to spit a Freestyle... I didn't understand what he meant by spit a freestyle. I asked what that meant and he explained that it's when you come up with rhymes off the top of the head. He said that if I practiced freestyle rapping more it would improve my skills on the mic. He also said that it's ok to mess up when your freestyling the trick is to just keep flowing and I'm good. He told me to wait for the beat to drop then catch it when it does. He compared riding the instrumental to riding a bike. He said keeping a steady rhythm with my words is like peddling a bike He said to keep putting one foot after another in order to keep moving forward. In other words by spitting one rhyme after another without stopping is always gonna turn into progress. I learned how to stay on tempo, how to flow switch, how to rhyme on top of rhymes, how to use metiphors, analogies, along with punch lines, complex rhyme schemes, using word play and popular slang terms adding in cuss words to emphasize what I'm saying. I developed the ability to freestyle on the spot I've been rapping for over 20 years now I never thought I'd ever make it rapping its always been something I did for fun. Now that I've been taking my music more seriously I feel like its actually possibile that I become a full time independent rapper. living my life long dream of becoming a legend in the rap game. I wanna say Thanks to everyone Listening and showing support for my music. I appreciate each and every last one of you. To all my old fans and new fans stay tuned I'll be releasing more music soon. I love y'all peace out.
