Jamal J., born Jamal Daniel Jaffa, was born in Alexandria, Virginia on December 6th, 1999. Since the age of 11, Jamal has been making his own music. Jamal grew up in Northwest Washington, DC and moved to various places in Montgomery County, Maryland. He started taking his music seriously after his stepmother passed away from a returning stomach cancer in 2017. Jamal J. is known for his gritty, vulnerable yet conspicuous storytelling over sweet and soothing sample beats.
