Jay ‘Moses’ Walker is an emcee from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois with ties to Detroit, MI. He’s an independent poet and artist that specializes in Hip-Hop. In 2007, Walker adopted the surname Moses for his stage persona, becoming known as Jay Moses or just, "Mos" for short. Jay's name carries significance and offers multiple meanings. Initially, feeling that Hip-Hop was in a state of disarray, he needed someone like Moses, who “walked by faith and led his followers, brothers, and sisters to freedom.” It doubles as an homage to legendary Brooklyn emcee, Mos Def, who served as an early influence. The Moses portion of his name has become symbolic of what he hopes to achieve not only as an artist but as a person in Hip-Hop culture. Alongside longtime friend and producer, Rovion “Rokmore” Reed, Moses started an independent media production house called TheGr8Thinkaz Media Collective, LLC. Through this company, they are able to produce and release content of different kinds all from one platform, as well as partner with artists to create under the umbrella of TheGr8Thinkaz.
