About

Je’Yume is a super versatile artist with boundless potential. His electrifying energy and captivating stage presence draws people towards him as his emotional voice makes him extremely relatable to the listeners that come across his music. Je’Yume makes a variety of different styles of music but he focuses on Alternative Hip-Hop and Pop Punk the most. His sad and emotional deliveries in Hip-Hop makes him an artist similar to Juice Wrld, XXXtentacion, Lil Peep, Lil Uzi Vert and Trippie Redd. However, looking at his other half in pop punk, he idolizes and draws inspiration from guys/bands like Green Day, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, MGK, Sum 41, and Modsun. Maurice Causey Jr, known professionally as "Je'Yume", is an American Alternative Hip Hop/Rap, Pop Punk singer and song writer. He was born on July 19th, 1997 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born and raised in a musical family full of gospel and jazz musicians and singers, Maurice didn't excel at anything. In fact, he showed no interest in music until he turned 13 years of age. His father (Maurice Causey Sr.) made his own record label known as "Black Diamond Records" giving Je'Yume a chance to make his very first song under the alias "Kid Legend". His career came to a rather quick end when a violent situation involving one of the label's hottest artists forced the label to disband. Removing the chance to continue music, Je'Yume dropped music and began to play basketball throughout high school and one year at a local college. In the late year of 2017, Je’Yume dropped out of college and started making music again. With newfound passion overflowing and an ambitious drive and goals for music, He dedicated years in his bedroom working on mixing and mastering his own songs. He went on to perform for the first time since he was 13 in the year of 2022 at Sweetwater’s open mic night and Concert Crave at Piere’s Entertainment Center. From there, Je’Yume joined a group called “Starving Artists” which helped him open up for artists like DJ Paul of “Three 6 Mafia (3 City Tour), PHIX (a tiktok artist with 2 million followers at the time), and Kirko Bangz. “Starving Artists” soon disbanded when JB THERAP, a member of “Starving Artist”, passed away in 2023. In 2020, Je’Yume became inspired by the new evolution of MGK who switched genres from Hip-Hop to Pop Punk. This gave Je’Yume a chance to experiment with pop punk, releasing his first pop punk single “Emo Girl”. Soon after, he started taking guitar lessons at Sweetwater. As of now in 2025, he formed a band named “CallAfter9”, a pop punk band in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He still considers Je’Yume as his main project he focuses on!
