Who Is “BDS KING?”
KamiSoul (Formerly known as) BDS King is a multi-talented artist, who grew up in Milton Keynes UK.
He learned how to Rap, Mix and Master his music, he even dabbles in producing, making him very hands-on with his music and independent.
He grew up on the music of 50 Cent, Michael Jackson and Kanye West But soon evolved onto the newer wave of rap and gained inspiration from artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, Big Sean and Chance the Rapper.
Some many artists have influenced Kami, but he uses the influence and shows originality through his delivery, cadence and flows.
His discography has plenty of upbeat and sad trap vibes, from his earlier work Infinitypark to his most recent debut album King Meets Titus, which was met with praise from his hometown to different countries across the globe, he later capitalised of that success with a deluxe, KMT:PurpleSZN which had been requested from fans due to snippets from the build up to King Meets Titus.
He's had thousands of streams on both Spotify and Soundcloud and we are now excited for what's next for the upcoming star.
What is next?
“2022 and Onwards is going to be about pushing sounds and production to higher and crazier levels than before, whether that is sampling more often or even crazier vocal inflections- at this point it’s about proving that good music still exists and that experimentation is not dead.” KamiSoul, After completing the remaster for Cold Summers & Hot Winters Part. II. (2021)
How has music impacted you?
“It allows me to express myself in a collected manner, rather than holding in whatever I’m feeling- music works as a form of therapy and medium for me, regardless if I release the songs, it’s always been about the art. One thing I’m struggling with now is having a face with the music, trying to associate my real life with my music. Hence the lack of promotion sometimes… but I do believe it’ll all work out in the end.” -KamiSoul(2021)
Message to any young or aspiring artists?
“Don’t sacrifice your integrity for attention, do as you see fit but don’t get lost in the hype because when all the hype goes it will show if you were next big thing or just the next trend.” -KamiSoul(2021)
Life Imitates Art-
This project is the ending to a trilogy. King Meets Titus, LoneStar and finally Life Imitates Art. -(Leeanis Explains April 20th 2022)
It’s also more focused on experiences with relationships, whether that being friendships to actual relationships, with experimental tracks and work with longtime collaborators. -(KamiSoul on Life Imitates Art. May 7th 2022)
The Album has been finished, it still feels surreal knowing how personal this album is. I have always felt I've given pieces of myself in the music, but... this has been different now talking more personal and maturing. After "Lonestar" I've felt lost and I think the first track on the album really tells that story. -(KamiSoul on Life Imitates Art. October 1st 2022)
2023 Has been a crazy year, we have reached heights I’ve dreamed of and more! Working on Sunset Lane has been a test but it’s been what I’ve needed to push myself as an artist.. I’ve even changed my name, but this new change feels right. So does this album. -(KamiSoul on Sunset Lane. October 2023)
This year I’ve been working, I mean that’s nothing new but it’s kind of like I’m more certain of everything I’m creating, “Where’s Luna?” Was a concept made in a month, literally that whole project was recorded in a month, that month I recorded 50-60 songs. I’ve been coming more personal with my songs as of late, especially during the trilogy I’ve been working on, Hedonist, Ascetic, And Eudaimonic. I kind of see these as a way for me to find balance in my own life and confront things. It’s like Yin and Yang… can’t be overly hedonistic but asceticism is also very damaging if unchecked, that’s where eudaimonicism brings everything together. I think I also want to balance my work and life balance. I feel I’m too myself all the time, and not showing up for people I’m close to.
-(KamiSoul on where he’s at now. April 2024)
