About
Born in Oakland, California, KEEMOW CA’s passion for music began early, shaped by his father, a singer, and his mother, a poet. Surrounded by the timeless sounds of the Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Natalie Cole, and Tupac Shakur, music was the heartbeat of his childhood. By nine years old, KEEMOW was already writing his first rap to Nas’s “One Mic” instrumental, unknowingly setting the stage for a lifelong career.
At nine, KEEMOW’s life took a dramatic turn when his parents divorced, and he moved from the Bay Area to Los Angeles with his father. While it was a difficult transition for a young boy, it proved to be a blessing in disguise. His mother remained strong and supportive. She vowed to do everything in her power to stay connected to him no matter how far apart they were.
A defining moment came when a simple Christmas gift—a laptop and the video game Rock Band—sparked his creativity. Using the game’s USB microphone, KEEMOW turned his bedroom closet into his first studio, experimenting with Fruity Loops and discovering the power of his voice. The moment his father heard KEEMOW’s first song, his reaction was unforgettable—tears of joy, pride and excitement filled the room. It was a moment that cemented KEEMOW’s belief that he was destined for greatness.
In high school, KEEMOW’s musical journey leveled up. Attending Washington Preparatory High School in Los Angeles, he immersed himself in a music program led by Mr. James Coffield, where he mastered Pro Tools and developed his engineering skills. By collaborating with friends and recording local talent, KEEMOW’s passion for storytelling through music grew, as did his reputation as a reliable and innovative studio engineer.
Collaborating with his cousin $peedy, who lived across the street from KEEMOW, also shared his same passion for music. KEEMOW & $peedy built a foundation for their music careers. They spent countless hours rapping, recording, in KEEMOW's room studio, across the street in $peedy's garage, and they even went as far as hanging the USB microphone from the ceiling, and putting a sock over it as the perfect pop filter. They loved the reaction they would get by sharing their musical creations with their families, friends and schoolmates online via social media.
Unfortunately, KEEMOW lost two very important people in his life. His friend $peedy was tragically murdered in 2014, and his father passed away shortly after in 2017 from stage four esophageal cancer. These losses shook KEEMOW to his core, leaving him feeling defeated, lost, and ready to give up. Music no longer mattered; life felt unbearable. Yet, through the pain, KEEMOW found strength in the belief that his father and $peedy were still watching over him, guiding him, protecting him, and pushing him to keep going.
Today, KEEMOW CA stands as a testament to resilience and purpose. After years of sacrifices, sleepless nights, and moments of doubt, he has emerged with a sound that reflects his journey—a blend of soulful storytelling and modern innovation. From recording tracks in a closet to collaborating with A-list celebrities in his own professional studio, KEEMOW has found his voice and his identity.
Whether crafting his signature TTED sound or helping others find their voice, KEEMOW’s journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the belief that dreams are worth the grind.
Driven by a burning desire to uplift his family, community, and honor those he’s lost, KEEMOW CA uses his God-given talents to inspire others. His story is one of pain, perseverance, and purpose—a reminder that even in life's darkest moments, there is always a light worth fighting for.
