Kiko Tru Rasta

RASTA – WHO IS HE? Born on September 21, 1980 in NY, Kiko, Mark Andrew Viard, lived in the center of the Caribbean Diaspora community in Brooklyn. He lived in the US until the age of 12, then moved to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. This would be a turning point of his life and the beginning of his journey through music. Back in New York, Kiko adopted many theories of Rastafarian-ism. Now with new inspiration, he dove back into writing music. Strong influences like Bob Marley, Sizzla, and Capleton inspired him to write more positive and conscious music. Kiko returned to Haiti to embark on a new musical path... His musical career took on a new direction with diverse experiences, new friends and different perspectives. Kiko began exploring various paths and areas of Haiti and eventually was introduced to Brother’s Posse (2000-2004). Short after, formed a band called Tru Rasta (2004- present). First released album “Twa Wòch Dife” (2017) Now present day Kiko joined forces with NoldyMusic. (2022- Noldy (Fitzreynold) Cadet is a Haitian-American, born in Brooklyn on September 9, 1981. Noldy gained his passion for music at a young age. Influenced by his family, community and visiting the homeland of his parents (Haiti) cultivated his sounds from Brooklyn to Haiti. Noldy is a former band member and bass player of Carimi (2001-2009) and continued with Vayb until present day. Kiko TruRasta and NoldyMusic became a melodic duo in creating a new sound fusing their similar Haitian/American nostalgic sounds and experience to bring love and truth to the world. Kiko's ability to intertwine Kreyol proverbs with English lyrics sends the listener on a musical journey. Alongside side NoldyMusic's dominant Afro-Caribbean/American sounds from Haitian drums to the most hypnotic piano keys and beyond with this and production, all we can do is boost the Caribbean Music Industry.
