About

With a style reminiscent of 90’s and 2000’s rappers this emotion driven poetic rapper Nakita “Kita On Tha Track” Poleon, started off creating beats and ghostwriting for other artists in her hometown St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. This “Island Hybrid” of Biggie Smalls has an undeniably smooth flow and sharp word play that can go toe to toe with any female or male rapper. Most of her songs are inspired by life experiences. From her fun tracks like “Speedy Gonzales” and “Mufasa” to her more serious poetic tracks “Déjà Vu” and “Jaded”, she can appeal to any crowd. Kita was born in Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I. on April 1st, 1993. Growing up with a passion for 90’s R&B and Hip-Hop music she started writing her own music by the age of 13. By high school she was already creating her own beats and performing in school talent shows. She eventually took time off to pursue college. While in college she still produced tracks for artists in her hometown as well as volunteered at the local community center teaching youth’s about beat making and the art of ghostwriting and wordplay. In 2015, she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts to further her education and pursue music full-time. Unfortunately, after a year due to personal setbacks family related tragedy, Kita eventually dropped out of college and took a hiatus from the music she loves. Three years after moving back home, she continued her work with the community center now being the full-time producer at the recording studio teaching young up and comers the fundamentals of being a great artist. This eventually ignited her passion for music again and collaborating with well-known rapper Junior Sparks, she was able to release her first track in 2019 entitled “Mentality”, with a dark beat and gritty wordplay, she steadily started making waves and putting her own mark on the competition. Gaining positive feedback on the track helped fully awaken her confidence in her music. Although being a member of the lgbtq+ community and most of her songs being about same sex relationships it was always harder obtaining positive recognition especially being influenced by her Caribbean culture, but began to open as she started working alongside many well-known local talent, producing tracks, performing at many shows, and doing interviews with local media. Kita is just a 90’s kid ready to make her own splash worldwide.
