About
From the murky corners of Internet rap, American rapper and producer Lil Boom crafts raunchy and humorous rhymes to goad and offend. Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, Boom (born Jaylon Lilly in 1996) sticks to topics like Japanese animation, basketball, and pop culture, crafting crafting often-explicit tracks that he self-releases online. He debuted in 2016 with a series of viral singles like "F*ck Steph Curry," "F*ck Taylor Swift," and an unofficial sequel to Lil B's Kevin Durant diss track, "F*ck KD 2." Flexing his meme-muscle, he also issued "RIP Harambe" and "Caillou," an ode to children's television. Early mixtapes like Namek and State Road 438 were followed by Who Is Lil Boom, which included an extended version and sequel to his Steph Curry viral sensation.
In 2018, Lil Boom released “Already Dead”, an irresistibly fun take on “Omae Wa Mou”, the Japanese bossa nova-sampling instrumental created by Noah Ryan Murphy, an 18-year-old who makes music as deadman死人. In July 2019, both versions of the song caught fire when “Already Dead” was discovered by the TikTok community, resulting in over a million fan videos and a chart appearance for “Omae Wa Mou” on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart. “Already Dead” subsequently debuted at #32 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 Chart on August 8th, and “Omae Wa Mou” climbed to #1 on the chart on August 28th.
