Rumy

Rumy describes his unique sound as “Dope dipped in champagne”. His production, while refined, maintains a grit that speaks to his core as a true student of hip hop. The drums are heavy, the bass lines are intense, the mood is often urgent. He approaches his tracks with precision, alternating lyrical prowess and sing-songy melodies to tell stories of betrayal and loss, and of commitment and glory. The Pennsylvania-born Rapper/Producer brings slick savvy and a hard-hitting vocal presence to his music. It’s laced with the residual influence of rap legends like Tupac, DMX, Mobb Deep and The LOX. Rumy began writing (music and poetry) as a child, and by age 15 had begun producing and recording music at a local studio as a way to stay off the streets. By 2011, Rumy was taking his career in music more seriously, making a real effort to build his team. He would subsequently release 2 EPs under the Council Music Group and Winner’s Circle imprints (respectively). ‘Against All Odds’ (2011) and ‘Fistful of Dollars’ (2013) were produced, recorded and mixed in Harrisburg, Pa, alongside veteran producer Aganee (Justin Bieber, Arianna Grande) and All Steezy (Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Tee Grizzley). Artist collaborators during this period included Plane Jaymes (formerly of CMG) , Rell (formerly of RocaFella Records), and Cadet. Rumy’s inability to untangle himself from the streets derailed him in 2014. His next release would be 2017's ‘Show Me’, a melodious street anthem that signified a departure from his usual gruff, hard-edged delivery. The 2020 EP ‘Babyface’ marked the debut project on Rumy's Shareholder Recordings imprint and featured on a number of Spotify playlists and national/international Hip Hop blogs. ‘Angels in the Snow’ (Another EP) and “The Tanjiers’ (a concept EP), both released in 2021, received attention and praise from playlisters and bloggers alike. ‘The Tanjiers’ was also featured in a portfolio collaboration with urban apparel company YUNG$TA. In 2022, Rumy released 'Omertà', an anthology of his early work (2005-2013). His Most recent offering, 'West End Story’ is the first installment of an EP trilogy, with “Fair Play District’ and ‘Insignia’ slated for Summer 2022. Riding the success of 2 new singles (‘Let Us Prey’ and ‘West Yard’), Rum announced official music videos for ‘’Let Us Prey’ and Emblems’. Also scheduled for release in 2022; ‘Root For The Villain’ (EP), ‘Big Cat Diary’ (single), and the highly anticipated debut album, ‘Town Baby ’.
