MK Zulu

Jared “MK Zulu” Bailey is a Grammy-nominated, multi-talented musician from Prince George’s County, Maryland. After graduating from Howard University with a Bachelor’s in Music Business, he went on to earn a Master’s in Jazz Performance from Rutgers’ Mason Gross Conservatory and a second Master’s in Digital Marketing from Full Sail University. Over the span of his career, MK has performed across the country and internationally, sharing the stage with many notable entertainers, including Grammy-nominated artists Cordae and Ginuwine as well as legendary entertainer Sinbad. He has appeared at some of DC’s most prominent venues, including The Atlas Performing Arts Center, The Howard Theatre, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Thriving in collaboration, he’s participated in over 40 releases as a contributing performer. As a founding member of DuPont Brass, he’s released eight albums, produced six independent tours, and secured multiple sync opportunities with ESPN, the NFL, and other notable entities. MK’s collaboration with composer Carlos Simon for the album Requiem for the Enslaved earned a 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. His latest solo project, The Legend EP, is an energetic package of songs that inspires listeners to never give up on their dreams and earned him recognition from The Source Magazine as a Top Talent to Watch. Over the past three years, MK has also been releasing music with rapper/vocalist Harry Gray in preparation for their upcoming collaborative album. Their latest release, Passport Baby, is their most well-received song to date, showcasing a dynamic blend of rap, jazz, soul, and pop. Throughout his career, MK Zulu has continued to push the limits of musical expression and artistic communication.
