Money Mya

Born in the South and raised between Mississippi and a town right outside of Chicago, Money Mya is proving that the south still has something to say. Money, also affectionately known as "The Princess of the Trenches" has experienced a lot in her short time on earth. From living in foster care and homeless shelters as a child, surrounded by crime, drugs, despair, and poverty to leaving home as a teenager and heading to Atlanta, Money has had her fair share of heartaches and pain. Mya began writing poetry as a way to cope with years of abuse she endured at the hands of those she trusted. Noticing an absence of music with substance on the airwaves, Money Mya decided to put her thoughts and feelings to beats in hopes to inspire other young women who's lives may be as tumultuous as hers. Money Mya's music takes us on a journey as she finds healing and self-forgiveness. Money Mya is raw, vulnerable, and honest with her audience. She considers herself like her fellow Gemini and one of her musical inspirations, 2Pac, a rose that grew from the concrete. Besides Pac, Mya's musical influences run the gamut from gospel legend Lee Williams to Kevin Gates. After reviewing her debut project, Wildest Dreams, Lee Callaghan of Evolution Music Press states "...Money Mya is more that just another run-of-the-mill female rapper..." It is no doubt that putting your money on Mya as "next up" is a safe bet!
