About

Najee Jana, The Gold Goddess was born and raised in the 15th ward of New Orleans. Her first single “That’s My Dawg” quickly generated over a million plays on SoundCloud. She also had a huge second single featuring Love & Hip Hop star Tokyo Vanity titled “He On Me”. Her grimey lyrics genuinely coincide with her lifestyle and upbringing. Both of her parents were in federal prison during her childhood. She was kicked out of both Orleans, and neighboring Jefferson Parish school systems; basically just roaming the streets of one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Many people in her city suggested she should do music because of her distinctive voice, over powering demeanor, and the fact that she was already widely known all across the city of New Orleans for street fighting; among other things. 2012 was her first time being recorded on a song. She was featured on a Dat Piff track titled “She Nasty” by Prospect Gang Affiliates. The nearly six feet tall beauty of Creole and Dominican lineage built up a loyal following she calls the Goddess Gang. She released her first mixtape in 2016 titled “Did It From Scratch”. Within the next 3 years she released 3 more mixtapes (Alone in Houston, The Gold Goddess, The Lena Baker Mixtape) and was a powerhouse on the Louisiana music scene. Not long after being featured on TheSource.com, she was also featured on NOPDNews.com She was a wanted fugitive by the New Orleans police department for shooting at someone. She was captured and booked into jail in November of 2019. She bailed out of jail the same night but was arrested again 2 months later by the Jefferson parish sheriff’s office for possession of heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and pills with the intent to distribute. She was also charged with having a firearm near a controlled dangerous substance. She was given a $185,000 bail with a fugitive warrant hold from Orleans parish. In February of 2020 she released her 5th mixtape on all major music platforms while locked in her jail cell. The mixtape, titled “2020 Vision” garnered the attention of Cash Money Records’ founder Brian “Birdman” Williams. The Corona Virus pandemic slowed her up from actually signing and joining Cash Money’s roster. COVID-19 did however expedite her release from jail when the government recommended all warrant holds be lifted from inmates sitting in jail. She posted bail and was released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center after serving 6 months.
