R.B.Balla

My name is Derek Mcneil but my artist name is R.B.Balla so most of my friends call me Balla. I’m 37 years old and I have three children 2 boys Nyreik 17 years old, Ameen 10 months old, and I also have a daughter Amenah who is 5 years old. I was raised in Brooklyn and always been proud of it lol I don’t know why but I’ve always wanted to put on for my borough more then anything, I guess I’m just pro Brooklyn lol. But yeah I was raised out in Bensonhurst, “Marlboro Projects” to be exact, where my family was very well respected. When I was younger my uncle L.G got killed and my Mother, me, and my 4 siblings moved to glenwood projects, in Canarsie where I would then discover my talent in an elementary school called P.S 251. It started off as a thanksgiving play and we were broken into groups of 5 and was told to write something about thanksgiving that rhymes. Me being the son of a DJ I was already Musically inclined do to always hearing music in my household so I wrote something with no problem. Then I eventually wrote for each person in my group and that was when I knew I wanted to be a Rap artist. I loved rapping so much I would walk around the neighborhood with my karaoke box and just rap. It was my first love and I continued to write no matter what was going on in my life. Years later we moved to Brownsville but I some how gravitated back to Canarsie in the 50’s, where I took to the streets and learned a lot the hard way. I’ve always been a phenomenal writer since the 4th grade, but do to bad choices I found my self in and out of prison missing out on great opportunities that would have been landed me in the rap game. After i came home in 2017 from a 2 year bid, I had my third child and decided enough was enough, I then began to see my purpose and went full force ten toes down. But if I could tell you one thing about me as an artist, I would say that I’m lyrically authentic. The things I rap about comes from somewhere, I’ve been places, I’ve seen things, and I’ve had my fair share of the fast life, so know this ain’t no made up $&@? When ever you hear me spit RNS.
