Big Billy From Philly
Hello,
My name is Robert Smith-Nealy, stage name Vessi and I am originally from Philadelphia, PA the city of Brotherly Love. My genre of music I currently work in is R&B but not limited to R&B since I also am a Singer/Songwriter, but I also have self-taught capabilities/assets in audio engineering and producing my own work that I have been doing Independently for 2 years. Now, let me tell you a little bit about Robert Smith-Nealy, but of course we’ll have to start from the top.
Growing up in Philly with my mother Robbyn C. Nealy, a career woman dedicating her time helping those who have served our country in the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as taking care of my elder sister and myself. My father, Brian L. Smith Sr. a carpenter for the Philadelphia Housing Authority for a career as well. Both parents were never together so I grew up in my early years as a troubled youth in a rough city being raised by a single mother. My mother still doing the best job you could ask of any woman needed help because of all the trouble I was getting into, so I went to live with my father to learn to become a man. Though times growing up with my father was not easy with my 2 siblings, but I found my way out to make a better life and be the best me I could be through the military.
Serving nearly 6 years in the active Army as a Combat Infantryman (11B) and Wheeled Vehicle Repairer (91B), also completing a tour to Afghanistan during OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom). After feeling like the Army gave me all the self-discipline and motivation, (also have multiple good friends while in tell me I was wasting my talents) to become great I decided my time in the military could come to an end and I can follow my heart. I started investing in myself while getting prepared to get out of the military, buying studio equipment while also studying music as the business side, so I was not just playing small ball. I was locked in making my first EP “Therapy”, while still serving in 2019 and while still not having much help but from my wife and a friend, the EP got a lot of love and great feedback around the world honestly. Now, in 2020 my home studio is at its height and putting out quality sound that’s unique to me has been the norm now and with my team being my wife and I we have been working tirelessly to promote and promote to get myself out there. With that being said this the conclusion on who I am and where I come from which could be pages and then this would eventually turn it a book but, to keep it simple, this is it. Thank you for your consideration and time.
