About
Rudeboy Akerele (born Nicholas Akerele) is a Chicago native of Jamaican and Nigerian heritage, whose artistry is deeply rooted in culture, legacy, and rhythm. He was raised primarily by his mother, with strong influence from his great-grandparents in Port
Royal, Jamaica. Rudeboy Akerele traveled between Chicago and Jamaica from an early age creating experiences that shaped his global perspective and distinctive sound. His Nigerian
lineage also plays a powerful role in his identity, as the grandson of Flavius Abiola Akerele, recognized as a chief within the Yoruba tribe and a notable Akerele leader during the colonial era. This rich cultural foundation instilled in him a deep respect for tradition, rhythm, and storytelling. Music was never a choice it was an inheritance.
With every verse recorded, Rudeboy Akerele's sound carries the fusion of Afro-Caribbean roots and contemporary influence. Embracing his natural accent, cadence, and cultural tone, he has developed an authentic artistic style that refuses to be
confined. Today, Rudeboy Akerele channels his heritage into a movement through his company, AFRO DANCE, bringing Afro-dance music to a global audience and creating soundtracks that celebrate culture, energy, and connection. Rooted in legacy, driven by rhythm, and built for the world.
