Shyy Kidd

Shyy Kidd (born Darren James Gillespie on February 10, 1998) is an independent rapper, singer, and songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. Known for his sharp lyricism, genre-blending sound, and raw honesty, he brings a powerful voice to the independent hip-hop scene. He debuted with MUTE (2019), followed by AFTER 5 (2020) and Winter Boyy Muziik (2021), showcasing introspection, faith, and storytelling. His fourth studio album, Phoenix (2024), marked a bold artistic evolution. In 2023, he launched Winter Boyy Clothing, a streetwear brand inspired by his music and lifestyle. Influenced by artists like MF DOOM, Lecrae, Lil Wayne, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, and more, Shyy Kidd’s style is rooted in lyricism, faith, and resilience. On July 4, 2025, he dropped Thank Me Later Vol. 1 with DJ J-Wealth and is currently filming videos while preparing his seventh album, The Artist Perspective, and a new EP, God Bless These Lyrics. At his core, Shyy Kidd seeks to draw people closer to Jesus Christ through music that reflects both spiritual truth and life’s struggles. He uses his journey to inspire others, blending faith with vulnerability and ambition. Now also pursuing acting, he continues to represent Christ boldly while empowering others through sound and purpose.
