SirRodney

SirRodney, born Rodney Darnell Walker August 31st, 1989 in Neptune City, New Jersey, is an indie artist from Palmetto, Florida. Early on, he was in the foster care system for a few years until his father won custody. After gaining custody, he spent a year and a half with him, traveling with the military, and even living abroad in places like Panama where SirRodney spoke both English and Spanish. His father sent him to Manatee County, Florida to live with his great grandmother and family, where he grew up and always claims as his roots. However, he moved back and forth to Atlanta to live with his father for short periods of time as he got older. At the age of 14 he recorded his first song on the south side of Atlanta. He states, "The ‘A’ exposed me to black excellence and Palmetto gave me the game and raw reality of the streets." SirRodney's mother was killed at the age of 12 before he had a chance to meet her. He found out at the age of 13. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with chronic renal failure and had to undergo dialysis. He received a kidney transplant at the age of 14 which lasted for 13 years before it failed landing him back on dialysis, or what he calls "the medical penitentiary." In recent years, he went plant based and has been trying to use alternative methods to reverse his ailment. His music is a reflection of his raw reality, his pain and the black struggle.
