About
Thaddaeus Washington grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Toledo, Ohio in homes filled with God, gospel music and family. While Thaddaeus began his musical journey with a drum kit, he was fascinated by his father and uncle’s amazing talent on the guitar. Thaddaeus’ true inspiration was his father, Lenny.
Lenny started Thadd with a single tune to master, in an array of genres and on a plethora of guitars, beginning with the steel guitar. Lenny’s focus was to teach Thaddaeus the true nuances of guitars.
Thaddaeus began playing in his high school’s Jazz Band, and at local Pentecostal churches in the Toledo and Detroit area. After traveling and doing some touring, Landing in Motor City, with its storied musical history of gospel, jazz and blues, was where Thaddaeus quite literally, found his groove. He was able to incorporate the inspiration he found while sneaking off as a kid to listen to R&B greats Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, Prince, Mary J. Blige and Dru Hill. Thaddaeus’ love of the Lord and playing guitar shined, and he steadily grew a following.
Thaddaeus continued gaining notoriety in NW Ohio and SW Michigan, and soon fans were clamoring for original music. In November 2020, Thaddaeus released his first studio album, Genesis with 21 original tracks, and in August of 2021 he stunned the crowd at Toledo’s Fifth Third Field with an amazing electric guitar performance of the National Anthem.
