Tony Thompson

Jazz keyboardist Tony Thompson composes and arranges music in Raleigh NC. He has produced 6 recording projects. The latest release Oct. 15, 2023 is a Jazz organ recording entitled 'Jazz Organ: In Velvet'. Mr. Tony, as he is affectionately called by his piano students is a veteran jazz pianist and organist in Raleigh, NC where has performed in some of the areas hottest jazz night spots and private clubs e.g. Cappers, Sullivans, C Grace, The Empress Room. Larger venues have been jazz festivals like the Hartford Jazz Festival with Cindy Bradley. More locally, Tony has served as a side man for Calvin Edwards, Stanley Baird, Tom Brown, among many others. He otherwise leads his own groups : the Tony Thompson Trio for example. Upcoming soon is a release of solo jazz piano recorded on a Schimmel concert grand- a project honoring the work of the late great pianist, Bill Evans.
