About
Tre-Ski the Unknown Specimen, or Tre-Ski, is a rapper/producer who has been a fan of music for as long as he can remember. Born Tremaine Stevens in 1980 in Richmond, VA, and raised in the gritty streets of Brooklyn, NY, Tre-Ski grew up alongside both the Crack Epidemic and the emergence of Hip-Hop. The hardships of ghetto life directly influenced his style, which is considered “Grimey East Cost Hip-Hop.”
He notes that the one thing that kept him from falling victim to the streets at an early age was his fascination with his Mother’s 200+ record collection. Growing up, he was the one who got called out of bed to perform for company—his favorite things were dancing to Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean and playing, “Name That Tune”.
In 1987, at the age of 7, Tre-Ski began mimicking the rap songs that were playing on the radio, the same way he did to the classics from his Mom’s collection. His older brother, who was rapping himself, saw this as an opportunity to mold one of the “Greatest MCs that ever chose to spit rhymes.” As the years passed on, he grew, both, physically, as well as, lyrically. Heralded as a battle champion among his peers, and some older cats, Tre-Ski, then going by the name Unknown Specimen, was a force to be reckoned with.
Since then, Tre-Ski has released a slew of mixtapes on the underground circuit, gaining a diverse fanbase. He is currently an artist and producer with XKLUSIV! P & G, a promotions and graphic design company based out of Richmond, VA, where he also serves as Co-CEO and Graphic Designer. He is working on Back On Dat BK BullS#!t!, which is slated to drop later this year.
