About

Tripl N. Artist(e). MC | Rapper | Singer | Songwriter | Author | Instrumentalist | Producer . Tripl N is a Hip Hop artist aiming to blend old-school and new-school rhythms in his constant push for growth in rap style & sound. Raised Neil Njiru Namu, the first encounter with his then unknown passion for Hip-Hop music would be listening to Rap anywhere some speakers would be playing tunes. Naturally wanting to fit in with the older crowds mostly around said speakers, he found himself quick to memorise the lyrics to songs in order to perform them later on for the entertainment of those around him. This grew into seeking acclaim and respect for possessing such an ability at an early age. Listening to radio, watching TV Music Shows such as The Beat, Club 1 & Str8 Up, and trying to keep up with the slightly older crowd whenever they'd be talking about Artists, inspired him to want to create art. He hadn't truly believed that he could build a career and actually succeed in Kenya as an artist(e). That was mostly due to the negative vibes of some around him towards his child-like optimism about life in general. Then came the iconic Rap album Get Rich or Die Tryin'. That 50 Cent album pushed him to want to write his own lyrics as the previously surprising ability to recite other artists' rhymes had come to be dubbed as being nothing more than a fad by those he looked up to. At this point, he says he got his elder siblings to break down the basics of Hip-Hop music, from their view, so as to acquire some knowledge on the art form that is Rap. Two verses were born as his first ever written raps. He vividly recalls noting the multiple unique styles and processes followed in the creation of the two verses. That single moment led to the decision to take up rap as his art, and craft his own path with it. As he initially didn't see it to be a way out of some desperate situation, his skill slowly moved into what he defines as the biggest comfort zone in his life so far. Barely any effort went into really advancing the different aspects of his expression through rap and as such, growth was only as a result of stylistic bits and pieces picked up through listening to a lot of Hip-Hop music, reciting others' raps and his steady maturing as a person. This growth was, however, minimal. Not until the age of 15 did he decide to genuinely start paying attention to the craft. This was as a result of meeting other rap fanatics in high school who felt that he could and should develop his skill. The brainchild of many piano sessions during lazy afternoons - in which they'd analyse existing acts in the industry, speak on their music inclinations and compose their own songs - was the birth of Tripoh' N (previous stage name). It was at this time that he first got to step into a studio and really get challenged to put pen to paper. In the span of his first two years of high school, he increasingly took more trips to different studios (from professional to in-room setups), which led to the recording of his rendition of the then smash-hit I'm Not A Star, in his first year, as well as the birth of his since retired Happy Thursdays webisodes. The webisode was inspired by another artist's (Taio Tripper of Camp Mulla, KE) recently concluded Trippy Tuesdays webisode series. He used to record and post videos on Facebook in which he'd rap over instrumentals; either performing freestyles or pre-written verses. This caught not only the attention of his peers but also his parents. In time, the opportunity to commence work with a pro studio (and potentially their label) arose, which he was eager to follow through on. Sadly, succumbing to pressure from his parents, he did not pursue this any further. As a result of this setback, he returned to just occasionally penning his raps down and in his words, "The spark seemed all but gone." Never really dropping his pen for good, at the age of 19, due to what he felt was a quickly building depression, he decided to reinvent himself as a person - moving past anything that did not steer him towards happiness. His passion for rap that seemed to have been put out was reignited as the one thing that he just had to see through, 'Win or Lose'. He switched his stage name to Triple eN. The vision: to become the rapper and musician that accomplishes what is yet to be done or seen in/from Kenya, then just keep going, no matter what. Forget Hopelessness! Two alter-egos were born, Neil Njitu & LooNy Gee, to increase his creative expression range, via more than just one 'voice'. A final rebrand soon occurred and the stage name was set to 'TRIPL N'. Re-inspired by the messaging of multiple established great MCs, local & international goofs, certain public speakers and activists who he decided to study with a keener eye, he is out to create a sound with a vibration saying ' This is how music manifested in me '. The product of which he and a few peers colloquially identify as, "Afrap", for now. Why build a wall then stop progression ? At the heart of Afrap, is the same spirit as #PlayKE and #YoungNTalented He recently tasted success as far as releasing his first mixtape is concerned. The project titled Just4CoveR hit Soundcloud on the 23rd of September 2019. It'll remain a Soundcloud Exclusive for the time being as plans for his future take shape. Vision 2020's. He mentioned that he finds it rather odd that the Art & Entertainment Industries seem to be under the influence of natural and supernatural agents that choose to oppose authentic artists, yet sell themselves on authenticity. The general public may or may not be surprised by the lengths that such 'beings' would go to, to dim the light(s) of many people in more fields than just Art. Is it what it is ? In his opinion, individuals decide what to make of that, one day to the next. Stay Tuned. Hating/evileyes beware.
