Truthbytwo is the creation of the multiracial reconnecting Indigenous artist Maya David García (she/they). Maya is of Mexican American and Indigenous Nahua, Hñañú, descent, and was raised with lived experiences and knowledge of Mexican American culture, through her mother’s family. Maya is a 2Spirit, demisexual visual artist, jewelry designer, singer. songwriter, author, poet and audio artist. Storytelling is at the heart of everything she does, and “Indigenish” is the perfectly imperfect story of growing up with one foot on two sides of the imaginary border, in two different cultures and with each hand in between the world of active imagination and reality. Maya is a survivor of multiple traumas, and an advocate for several causes, including adult survivors of childhood trauma, disability rights, Indigenous sovereignty and LGBTQIA2S equality.
