YA is an artist from Brixton, south London. YA was raised on myatts filed estate but At the tender age of 12, YA relocated to Clapham, a pivotal moment that would shape his path in life. In 2017, he took his first steps into the world of music when he entered the studio with the renowned drill rapper, Perm. This marked the genesis of his musical career. However, YA's journey has not been without its challenges. He found himself entangled with the authorities due to various criminal activities, leading him to adopt the alias 'Yingaa.' His notoriety made headlines, gracing numerous newspapers. Ultimately, this turbulent phase culminated in a four-year sentence behind bars for drug and weapon-related offences. In 2020, YA regained his freedom on parole. Unfortunately, his encounters with the law persisted, resulting in his recall to prison in connection with the Angell Town riots in Brixton. Once again, his name made headlines for the additional charges of kidnap & GBH (BBC news / ITV) Despite the adversities he faced, YA remained dedicated to his craft. From behind prison walls, he released three compelling projects: "PROBLEM CHILD," "YA x DARKO VOL1," and "LOVE & DRILL." As of 2023 YA now releases music under the name BLOCKSTAR (AAA)
