Born in Brooklyn, NY and taking over every city since October 13, 1997. 22-year-old Kiara ‘Fáni’ Halley (other Aliases: Kona Gold/WEWANTFANI) is the Next Big Thing out of Atlanta, Georgia. Halley has always had a love for music having a Venezuelan-Trinidadian mother and a Guyana-born, Brooklyn-raised father. East Coast Hip Hop was her first love. Her inspirations growing up she states was Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill, Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, Eminem, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj. She has met major stars at a young age such as Keyshia Cole, Young Jeezy, and Jazzy Pha as she is also the first niece of CEO and Executive Producer, Manny Halley. Meeting such notable celebrities, it truly inspired her craft immensely. Every year, a new sound and new songs. She wrote her first song “Dance With U” at the age of 8 and since then, it has been history (in the making). Sounds, flows, eras have changed and so has Halley’s sound. Her sound grabbed the attention of a close friend and producer Renzy 808. Initially, the two met when Halley was attending a video shoot for New Orleans rapper Kyyng. Relating on multiple things such as their zodiac sign and sociable persona, the two became inseparable. Halley eventually became a frequent songwriter for many artists with her connection to Renzy 808. A few people you may connect to Fáni is Guap Tarantino, Chinese Nicky, Chinese Kitty, Nic.KYO & Tabius Tate. She has met Kyyng, Yung Mal, Lil Quill, and Lil Keed several times on multiple occasions. She has stated that she has met so many Atlanta artists but the 3 artists out of Atlanta that she would love to meet and work with would be Skooly, 2 Chainz, and Young Thug. Her number one inspiration of all time is Rihanna; not only does she admire her music, but also her confidence, her entrepreneurial side, and her overall style. Musically, Kehlani is her favorite female artist of today due to her relatable and heart-felt music, but Drake is her all-time favorite artist. These record-breaking artists have reached heights that Halley aspires to reach and for this reason, there is no plan b. Fáni began taking music seriously after graduating high school and took on the alias ‘Kona Gold’ which is a name she claimed in high school due to her and her peers smoking a lot of marijuana as teenagers. She states that Kona Gold is actually another name for weed so she relates to this by being very relaxed just as the common symptom of smoking marijuana. She then began featuring on songs with other up-and-coming artists she knew locally or personally. Due to her love of working with other artists and overall passion for music, she created her own label YBE (Young Black Excellence) at the age of 18. The label consisted of herself, her brother (YBE Syah), her childhood friend (Uno), Ju Fazo (former member) and a few others who were in support of the movement. YBE evolved from a small label between friends to a movement. Eventually, she changed the name to World of YBE so that it could reach black youth on a global scale. The acronym became neutral and people were able to use whatever words fit the occasion (i.e. Young Black Entrepreneurs, Young Balling Entertainers, Young Black & Excelsior). The group continues to expand this movement by selling merchandise via www.WorldofYBE.com and spreading love, hope, and support to black youth across the globe. Fáni continues to grow her name, her brand, and her music today under the aliases ‘WEWANTFANI’ ‘YBE FÁNI’ or simply ‘FÁNI’. Most recently, she was on the Hot Ones Game Show with her younger sister. They didn’t win the competition due to the extreme pain, but she used to publicity to help get her name familiarized in the industry. She is no rookie to the camera; She also is an actress claiming that it is “something that will never leave her.” Today, she continues to work on her multiple talents and really own her craft as a true Artist.
