Zoo Ground productions

Welcome to Zoo Ground Productions! The original Zoo Ground was located in Bracey, VA along the Roanoke River. John Boyd's maternal grandparents Lee (Rodwell) Robinson and Ruth Macklin Robinson created a place for Black farmers and share coppers to gather for music, storytelling, food, drinks and good times in the woods down by the water. As a young boy, John would accompany his grandmother down to the Zoo Ground to pour shots of liquor. It was there he found his love for Blues and Soul music. We now gather along the Roanoke River (Lake Gaston) in Boydton, VA to carry on this family tradition of farming, fun and music! Zoo Ground Productions was founded in 2021 with a commitment to producing entertainment with socially relevant themes. We are dedicated to entertainment that inspires audiences to engage in positive social change. Zoo Ground Production’s content and social impact mandate bring global awareness and action to today’s most vital issues.
