About
Thelonious Rager is a Poet, Writer & Artist hailing from Plaistow East London, from Nigerian descent. As a Poet, his work explores ritualistic metaphors to describe daily trials and tribulations of living in conflict as he comes to terms with the duality of faith, race, masculinity and sin over alternative instrumentals.
Beginning as a writer, Thelonious Rager is credited as a script consultant for ‘Palimpsest’, a short film directed by CL-Q , commissioned by Royal Philharmonic Society and Ideastap. Since Palimpsests premiere at the British Film Institute (BFI) in 2015, it has since gone on to be screened nationally and internationally at Vault Film Festival (London), Bronx Museum (New York), Wilderness Festival (Oxfordshire) and be written about in publications such as Hunger Magazine as This Week’s Short : Palimpsest, interviewed by Jordan Rossi.
Thelonious Rager the Artist came to be, when Thelonious found his voice whilst studying to become an author. This ambition would drastically shift after realising that his words were too potent for paper. Instead, he channelled them through a microphone in order to amplify his prayers and slay his demons one syllable at a time.
