Brent Faiyaz is igniting his next independent chapter
After the success of F*ck The World in 2020 and a year of collabs in 2021 with Drake, Tyler The Creator, and more, Brent made history with his 2022 RIAA Certified Gold album WASTELAND. Debuting at #2 on the Billboard Top 200, it marked the highest-ever chart position for an independent R&B artist. He could've gone major, but instead joined UnitedMasters PARTNER to take his next big leap forward in music independently.

WHAT DOES OUR TEAM LOOK FOR IN PROSPECTIVE PARTNER ARTISTS?
Our artist services team looks for artists who are passionate, determined, and ready to be a force in the music industry. Typically the artists we engage for PARTNER are constantly releasing great music that speaks to their authentic experiences, frequently posting on social media to engage with fans, and regularly performing. They keep going when they face ups and downs, and are clearly consistent in their pursuit of professional music.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I RELEASE MUSIC?
We recommend releasing music every 4-6 weeks. Some PARTNER artists take it a step further, like Tobe Nwigwe who released weekly before joining PARTNER. Consistent releases help you own your release momentum, and keep your fans engaged.
We also recommend marketing your releases, and aim for at least 1,000 pre-saves each time. The MasterLinks feature from UnitedMasters SELECT is a great tool to help you drive pre-saves.
HOW DO I GROW MY FAN FOLLOWING ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
UnitedMasters PARTNER artists typically have a strong fanbase on social media channels like TikTok and Instagram. Here are tips from our artist services team on how to build your following:
Establish your brand. Ask yourself: what do you believe in and stand for, creatively? What kind of artist do you want to be? What’s your story?
Post your personal experience of being an independent artist in a format that follows social trends (i.e. Story Time, Get Ready With Me, etc.).
Post on social platforms before and after you release music, and lean into your platforms with the most engagement.
Post consistently, and pay attention to trends. Try different types of videos and see what your fans respond to the most.
Give your posts a couple of days. If something doesn’t generate traction, delete it.
